Download Our Unboxing Survey Results 2025

Our annual unboxing survey is now in its tenth year. A decade of research, we have seen retailers broadly getting better at reducing damages, not over-packing and making packaging more sustainable. All these trends respond to consumer demand. This year’s results reveal their continuation but with some interesting developments.

The 2025 Unboxing Survey invited consumers to share their opinions across a broad range of packaging theems, including the formats and materials used, sustainability credentials and the effectivemenss of branding, as well as accessability features.

Additionally, consumers were asked to report any damage and rate overall satisfaction with the unboxing experience.

Against a backdrop of rising regulatory pressures on packaging, increasing business costs and stringent customer expectations, the results from our 2025 Unboxing Survey underline the ongoing importance of getting packaging right - first time and every time.

It is also clear from our research that as the UK population ages, a good unboxing experience will be as much about accessibility as an exciting brand interaction. Elderly and disabled people represent a market of nearly 20 million in the UK. Not enough retailers are considering this group when choosing their packaging.
