Based: Cricklade (near Swindon)
Package: Basic Salary £35,000 – £45,000 (dependent on experience) & Bonus and other company benefits
Hours: 40 hours per week (Monday to Friday 07:00 – 15:00 or 15:15 – 23:15) plus overtime (paid at 1.5)

The Company
GWP, one of the UK's leading packaging manufacturers, are looking for a Plant Maintenance Engineer to join our established team. You will become part of a business established for more than 30 years, with a strong history of producing sustainable and environmentally friendly packaging.  Being part of Macfarlane PLC (the UK's largest packaging distributor) and experiencing strong growth over the past three years.
 
The Maintenance Engineer Role
The Plant and Services Technician role is well suited to an individual with experience in a manufacturing environment.  Working on your own and in a team, you would be expected to maintain, modify and install plant, services and facilities across the sites within Macfarlane Group whilst maintaining and improving Health and Safety in line with company procedures and statutory regulations.
 
 
The Plant Maintenance Engineer Key Responsibilities
The right candidate would be multiskilled, preferable (but not essential) to have an electrical bias with the ability/understanding to test and inspect electrical installations. Mechanical applicants with some electrical abilities would be considered.  Also, to be proactive in their approach and constantly seeking to improve processes and plant though a constructive project-based approach.
 

  • Where breakdowns occur, review the situation, look to analyse the cause, plan/action the repair to minimize downtime, monitor and report actions taken.
  • You will be experienced in mechanical maintenance including motors, drives, gearboxes etc. with an understanding of hydraulics & pneumatics.
  • Emphasis is being put on Planned Preventative Maintenance so the right candidate will be able to help facilitate the implementation and adhere to the ongoing schedules.
  • Flexibility is key to this role; you will be expected to travel between sites to support breakdowns and business requirements. On occasions you may be required to be flexible with your start and finish times to suit machine availability to the maintenance department.
  • You will also be expected to be flexible in the approach to your work and be able to work outside of your normal remit to complete any tasks given to the maintenance department.
  • Own transport and clean license are essential due to the different locations of the Macfarlane sites; however, millage allowance is available for traveling to the sites and for additional millage within the working day (when company transport is not available).
