Tensioners are used to apply the correct amount of tension to the strapping material around a load, ensuring that the load is securely held together during transport and storage.
Sealers are tools that crimp and seal the metal or plastic seals that hold the strapping in place once the tension has been applied. They ensure the strapping remains tight and secure.
Tensioners and sealers can be used with various strapping materials, including polypropylene, polyester and steel strapping. The choice of tool depends on the specific material and the application’s requirements.
Consider the type and width of the strapping material, the load size and the desired tension. Different tensioners are designed for specific materials, such as polypropylene or steel and for varying load requirements.

A strapping cutter is a specialised tool designed for cutting strapping material, typically used to trim excess strapping after it has been applied.

There are different types of cutters available, suitable to work with either plastic or metal strapping.

Using a strapping cutter ensures your strapping is cut safely, quickly and efficiently, offering a neat and professional look.

Strapping tools are designed to efficiently manage your strapping materials, including tasks, such as tensioning, sealing and cutting.

You have the option to choose from combination tools that typically perform all three functions or select a specific tool for a particular purpose, such as a sealer or tensioner.

These tools can be manual, electric or battery-operated, depending on your preference and the type of tool you select.

Common types of strapping tools include:

  • Strapping cutters - specifically designed to cut your strapping materials
  • Strapping sealer tools - designed to seal your strapping materials securely
  • Strapping tensioner tools - used to ensure a tight fit for your strapping
  • Combination tools - an all-in-one solution for tensioning, sealing and cutting your strapping

Buckles and seals are used to secure the ends of strapping material, ensuring that the strapping remains tight and holds the load securely during storage and transit.
Strapping buckles are typically used with polypropylene or polyester strapping and allow for re-tensioning if necessary. Banding seals, on the other hand, are crimped over the strapping ends to create a permanent, secure hold.
Buckles are generally used with lighter strapping materials like polypropylene and polyester. They are especially useful for manual strapping applications where adjustable tension is needed.
The most common types of seals include open seals, closed seals and serrated seals. Open seals are easier to place around the strapping, while closed seals provide a stronger hold. Serrated seals have teeth for better grip.
Always wear appropriate protective gear, such as gloves and safety glasses. Ensure that tensioners and sealers are used according to the manufacturer's instructions and keep fingers clear of moving parts. Regularly inspect tools for signs of wear or damage before use.
